I know it may be irritating to add items we might think should have been included but I am just thankful smart folks come up with ideas that make a positive difference. I was doubtful at first but thanks to Rickie I opted to buy it and the longer I have it the more appreciative of the technology.

JP, tell us the difference in the functions of the GPS puck and the heading sensor.
Tell'em I'll be there.
Not JP but ...:
GPS is a function of the Earth's orbiting satellites relaying data to the GPS antenna to calculate where that GPS antenna is located on the Earth's surface (latitude and longitude) ... Then the unit plots that "location data" on the Chart view as "Position" ...or where you are ...
Heading is a function of a magnetic compass in the heading sensor puck that measures how many degrees from Magnetic North (of the Earth) the heading sensor (compass) is currently pointing ... Then the unit plots that "heading data" on the Chart view as "Orientation from North" ...or which direction you are pointing ...

The GPS provides location. The GPS-HS includes an internal compass so it can provide location and orientation
The internal GPS can provide direction, but it has to calculate the direction based on sequential GPS locations. The boat has to be moving 0.6 mph or faster to be able to provide enough spacing between GPS locations to do this. When sitting still or traveling under 0.6 mph, a circle will be displayed on the screen because it can not calculate the direction the boat is pointed. When traveling over 0.6 mph, the boat icon is displayed, indicating the direction of travel
When fishing offshore structure, the GPS-HS is invaluable because it allows you to see the relationship between the boat and your waypoint/map contours at all times. I wouldn’t fish without one!
Here is a prime example. Notice I am traveling 0.5 mph and the boat icon is visible. I am sitting on the edge of a underwater hump and heading sensor lets me maintain the relationship (distance and orientation) to the hump so I know exactly where to cast. Even if I drift and the boat rotates, I will always know the location of the hump and my orientation to it
Another advantage of an external GPS is it can be mounted as close to the transducer as possible. When scanning for structure, you typically want to place a waypoint on anything interesting you would like to go back and fish. If you cursor over and mark a waypoint on a rock pile, it will record the GPS location and any cursor offset from that location. The structure location is based on the transducer location, because that’s what’s creating the image. If you are using the internal GPS of a unit mounted on the console and your transducer is mounted on the transom, theoretically your waypoint will be off the distance between the unit and the transducer. For the most accurate waypoints, it’s best to have the GPS and transducer in the same location
Hope this helps! Here are some videos that may provide more information!

Ok. My Christmas is coming early in September. I’m ready to get one.
What is the difference between AS GPS HS and the AS GRP precision gps antennas?
They both say they fit helix units. Only thing I’m seeing different is the price of $50
Can someone please explain or tell me which one and why?

You’ll want the HS, heading sensor.
Please verify with HB.
HS shows you exactly which way your boats pointing, no matter the speed.
No more donut!
