Biggest benefits are that it deploys precisely, at the correct angle to maximize the transducer, easy to adjust, deploy, store, and is precisely machined for a long life.

Does it lay across the boat or parallel to the gunnel?

It is set up to be diagonal to the gunnel although it can be in any position as long as the arm can deploy. I moved mine from 90 degrees from the gunnel to 45 degrees allowing me to move my dual charts closer to my seating position. Here is the 90 degree position.

The transducer cable is connected to the LiveScope GLS 10 sonar black box allowing network connections to other Garmin charts as well as the primary chart displaying LiveScope. Does that answer your question? Not sure what FF means.

Sorry
Curious about what FF, fish finder you're using.
I don't have any Garmin stuff. Would need everything all at once.
I saw a 10 in unit that doesn't require the black box?
Thanks
Thanks

See my response to your black box question.
I have the 8610xsv, the top of the line 10” model. Absolutely love it. Started with the 1022 but was able to upgrade. Black box required for LiveScope, as I understand it.
