    Default New Ultrex trolling motor

    Good morning!
I have a question for you guys that have an ultrex trolling motor with Ipilot. I have taken mine out now twice. Maybe I expected too much but my spot lock and autopilot dont work as well as I expected. Spot lock tries to hold position but varies a lot. It may move around as much as 10 feet and then drives kinda hard to the original location. The wind was blowing around 5 mph the last time out but was blowing harder the 1st time. Also when I use cruise and autopilot at the same time sometimes it accelerates well above the selected speed. I fish .3 mph most of the time. Is this normal or should I be calling minn Kota? I do have the remote compass close to the trolling motor, could that be it?

Mine was doing the same thing and then i found a vid on Youtube and instruction from another site(google search calibrate Ultrex), the short answer, you have to download the app to your phone update the software and and sync phone with motor and controller and then do the calibration and in the setting you have to change the setting from +2 too -1 or -2 right now the system thinks you have a 20k lb boat and and is over compensating... Ill try and find the link. hope this helps.

Assuming you meant Ipilot/Link because all Ultrex models have Ipilot. The Boat Scale setting (PG 42 of the manual) can help compensate when it seems to over or under perform on spotlock. Sometimes need to change it depending winds and current to help. When using Advanced Autopilot instead of Legacy, the TM compensates for wind and current to keep you on heading. So Boat scale might also help with that. The Heading Sensor could be ok in that location but should have checked for interference before mounting it and be sure to do the calibration procedure. Since Heading Sensor is used primarily for Jogging, you could test it by seeing if it Jogs in correct direction. I have mine up on bow near TM but haven't had a problem with it since there's very little interference with the TM deployed.

    1st: YouTube

2nd: go into setting and look for boat SCALE and reduce that number, mine was at +2 and now is on -2 and works great. may need to start at -1.

3rd: YouTube this might not be the same controller but you will get the idea.

    Hope this helps.

    Good morning guys,
I went out last Saturday to try the new scale settings and the motor wouldnt turn left at all with the foot pedal. I was told it had a nad card by the local repair center. they said they were on back order. I took it back to cabelas and exchanged it. I'll be back out this weekend to try again. I bet the board was the problem all along...

I bet you still need to adjust the boat scale setting though.
