Better to use one that is deep cycle. The deep cycle have thicker plates and are designed for this kind of use and will last a lot longer if recharged properly.
My local O'Reilly has a pretty good deal on a regular lead acid battery with a reserve capacity of 185 mins. They also have an agm fleet heavy duty battery with a 200 min reserve . Would this fleet battery do well with trolling motors or better to stick with one labeled for marine use.

It is listed under their deep cycle category. But I can't find where it says it in the specs

I've got a couple of the GC12 batteries from Sams Club .... but just checked an looks like they aren't stocking them for some reason.
I think the battery you are looking at is a combo start / deep cycle which I wouldn't consider as good as a deep cycle for the trolling motor .... I saw it on O'Reilly's web site and it was pretty pricy. .... I would think you could find a 12V golf cart battery in that price range.

$200 on a battery for a boat battery just seems crazy to me. You start getting into those higher dollar batteries you have to make them last longer to get your money's worth. I prefer to have fresh batteries instead so I buy what suits my needs at a decent price.
I like the EverStarts from Walmart, been buying those for nearly 20 years, I can make them last 7 years but usually replace after 5 years when their capacity is starting to get reduced.
27DC for the main battery ($81.67)
a pair of the MAXX-29 DC for the trolling motor ($99.97 x 2)
$298.51 total (incl tax)
For 5 years of use, that's only $59.70 / yr
If you just regular fish i agree, but if you pull cranks i disagree.A set of golf cart trogens will still be going when the wally batteries are dead.Pulling cranks at 1.5-2.5 mph will eat a set of batteries in a hurry.I have 4 of the group 27 batteries for trolling in my boat, not enough height for trogen golf cart set or i would just have 2 trolling batteries.

I really thought about the Trojans hard. I have gotten by for the last 4 years with optimas with 120 minute reserve capacity I finally decided to go with the sams batteries that show 225 at 23 amps I realize other batteries are rated at 25 amps. for $99 I could not beat the price
