    Default Minn Kota Terrova- Issues

My Terrova 12v will turn on and operate, but the head will not turn. I’ve changed batteries in remote and tried turning using the foot pedal with nothing. It will bog the prop down just a little when I try turning it. Bad board? Is it worth repairing or not? Pretty crappy timing, hoping to get resolved one way or another in the next week, two at max.

Sounds like to me you have a bad connection at the battery, at circuit breaker or an one side or the other of your plug. Also could have a bad battery. I’d start by checking each and every connection from battery to steering motor. And get battery loss tested.

Go to BBC Boards and ask in the trolling motor section. You should get an answer pretty quick.

What cray said. Also turn (steer) the unit by hand in case steer motor is frozen from lack of use.

I agree 100%. I've upgraded my Legacy Terrova to have I-Pilot. I replaced everything in the foot of another, armature, wires, seals, and gaskets. Replaced the US2 nose for a plain one and skeg. Very user friendly!

My guess it's in the steering motor. Electrical or Mechanical

If your prop has issues, its your main trolling motor battery not the remote. Bad turning motor will still allow you to control the prop perfectly. If the prop is indeed working fine, its most likely in your ipilot head that is doing it. Take the head unit off and double check all of those wires for a bad connection, that is a common fail point with the older ipilots.

Called a local repair shop last week and he gave me a price, and wasn’t happy that it was going to take over a week so got online and found Northland and ordered a new control board and steering motor. Put it together Friday and fished Saturday. Only issue I had was the foot pedal worked but not the remote, it kept flashing F. After I got done fishing I messed with it some more and somehow got the remote to work. Hopefully the issue won’t continue.

Flashing F means a bad connection to the control board. Double check all your connections between the board and the head.
