Thought Hbird had a bug in some Helix units where depth went crazy going from deep to shallow. May check and make sure software is up to date in case they fixed that if it's still an issue at all.

Turn off the chirp in that shallow water and see if it doesn’t clear up.

356 feet cant be right, can it?
Have you tried setting a lower limit on water depth?

To determine if this is TM interference - remove the xducer and it's cable completely from the TM ... and test in the water far away from the TM ...

*If the interference goes away = the interference is getting in thru the xducer or its cable ...
*If the interference is still present = the interference is getting in thru the Sonar unit power circuit ...

It does no good to apply remedies to xducer/xducer cable interference encroachment if the interference is getting in thru the Sonar unit power circuit (and vice versa) ...

Not sure if its TM interference or not. Turn on sonar, put TM in water and start trolling. Sonar working fine and then the of the screen rises up to the top and it looks like the picture. Lasts a few seconds and then begins reading the right depth and the bottom the sonar is reading goes back down and it starts reading right. Sometimes it will do that 4-5 times and sometimes not at all. Cant predict when or determine if something is causing it. The TM is running usually the whole time as we are trolling. My thots are if it were interference it would interfere the entire time and not be intermittent, but this is not my area of expertise. I am not sure of the cause so any help is appreciated. I just want it to quit so I can fish. Spent too much money to be frustrated with a machine.

Interference can be caused by any electrical energizing (TM, bilge pumps, aerators, other Sonar units, etc) ...

It might be a good idea to narrow the possibility down by shutting off everything in the boat and turn items back on one at a time until the interference shows up ...

Then tackle the issue causing the interference ...
