Thread: Does anyone on here repairs transducer cables?

Never used one but might help solve your issue if you can't find someone to repair the cable.

Thanks... I may end up doing it myself, but I would rather have someone who knows what they are doing working on it! Which somewhat explains how it got messed up to begin with!

I pinched one like you did and spliced it back, never could get it to work and had to order another cable.

I would give it a shot should be able to pull the shielding back resolder the wires heat shrink and water proof. What have you got to loose some have fixed them this way.

It would be worth a try if its above the water line. If its below the water line I wouldnt risk splicing it. If the splice is not water tight it could damage the unit.

If the only alternative is replacing the transducer why not give it a shot first?

There is nothing wrong if the splice is above the water. But if the splice is below the water it could be risky. You will only get one test to see if it's water tight. If it's not then you are running the risk of shorting the head unit then you not only have bad transducer but a damaged head unit

I made the patch today, and it appears that it is going to work. Will know more tomorrow when I actually get the boat on the water again... Those tiny wires were a real pain to deal with, but after an hour or so I got it all back together... Thanks for all of the help...
