Default One fish finder for front and back of boat???? any ideas how to do?

I can't afford multiple fishfinder units for my boat. Does anybody have suggestions how to setup where one unit can be moved from the "captains" chair to the bow?? I plan on being able to move the transducer as well. Thanks in advance for any help!

You might try an ice fishing rig and make a pole for the transducer. I would reccomend sticking with a unit on a RAM mount at console and transducer mounted in rear of boat.

It would be a lot easier if you could get two transducers then you could just disconnect and reconnect the wires. If one is your only option I’d look the advice crappielimits said

I have one unit mounted in front of boat, yes it's hard to see from drivers seat, might be better mounted more in middle of boat. I have a transducer on back of boat, and one on the trolling motor. I purchased a selector switch and a y cable from hummingbird to choose which transducer I wanted to use. FYI, the selector switch draws a little power from battery so in down time I hook a battery tender up to keep battery fully charged

I would take a look at the techniques the Kayakers and Ice Fisherman use it is slick. The transducer is mounted to a piece of PVC with a clamp on opposite end. The head unit is portable....Now I just did a quick search and come up with these two concepts from google or googling whatever they call it nowadays...….you will figure something out

I had 2 gimbal mounts and transducer on trolling motor, just left the wires long enough to move back and forth in wire loom. Worked great but could be a pain if moving alot. Now have 2 units on boat

I use a Humminbird 175 on the front with the transducer mounted on the trolling motor foot and a Humminbird 688 in the rear. The 688 is DI/GPS and works great with good imagining, the 175 works fairly well but small, not quite as easy to read but works for me..

Unless you need a DF at the helm to use for navigation purposes ... you "could" get away with one at the bow & have it be big enough to be seen from the "captain's chair".

I used to have one at the console & one at the bow, but the console unit went wacky on me, so I unplugged it. I fish familiar waters, so navigation isn't a problem. I fish from the bow, so that's where my Hook 7 unit is mounted. If necessary, I can turn the map feature on & use it for navigation on unfamiliar waters, as I can see it from the driver's seat. I did exactly that when I had the Lowrance Elite 5DSI unit at the bow. The Hook 7 is nearly the same unit, just with a larger screen & 2d/chirp imaging added (which I seldom use).

I would do this^ with a hummingbird you can get a remote and change the screens if need be from the console. Even now with a bow and console unit I still use the bow unit from the console with the remote. The remote ill allow to most of the popular functions

I've got a Helix 8, I can use it up front with the trolling motor Mega DI+ transducer, or disconnect it and use it at the rear with the stern mounted MEGA SI+ transducer. Absolutely love it. With the new Terrova and iPilot Link I rarely sit up front anymore.

With a Ram mount and Humminbird's easy connect/disconnect plug, it's so easy to move from front to rear.
