Default Motorguide Xi5 pedal in recessed tray

Anyone use the Xi5 pedal in a recessed tray? It's way too low and you can't hit the anchor button. I'm looking for ideas to raise the pedal in the recessed tray. Thought about cutting some rubber stall mats or laminating some plywood? Has anyone done this?

the rubber mats sound like an idea, better than plywood, water won't hurt them and they will get wet.

I have never used the pedal on mine way easier to use the remote, I think the pedals suck.

I used plywood for my terrova pedal. I cut a rabbit around the plywood to fit on top of the tray. Painted, cut some slots to hold pliers and hemostats and hide pedal wires under it in tray. If it starts to come apart, I'll just make another.
