    Default bilge wiring


    I am going to be rewiring all my pumps in the bilge area, what is best , butt crimp with heat shrink or butt crimp with liquid tape? Also what brand 60 amp breaker do y'all recommend for a 55lb terrova?

    I would solder and heat shrink, next would be butt splice and heat shrink.

    Butt splice is ok as I do that too and it works fine. Cray is absolutely correct on the best method. Been doing low voltage electrical for may years and solder is the most pure connection for all wiring.

    Some will argue that solder becomes brittle and may break, but I've never seen it happen.

    I prefer crimps with heat shrink because they're easier. Buy them in bulk on ebay.

    If you dont have much room to work with, cool seal buttsplices is a good option. If you have small wires, then scotch locks are an option. they both seal as you crimp.

    if you decide to solder splice, use dual wall heat shrink. it self seals.
