    Default Tracker 175 transducer mounting

Recently bought garmin 7sv, I've got my screen mounted on a ram mount at console. I started to mount my transducer on the back of my hull, and using the supplied template, I don't have enough room to my new ducer where the old one was because of the step in my hull. I have room more over towards the center but am not sure if it would cause turbulence readings. Best place to mount it?

I have 2014 pro team 175 TF and I also got a new transducer the Lowrance total scan (about 11 inches long for the Elite TI). I have searched and searched the internet, called Bass Pro and still not sure what to do. The plastic mounting bracket forces the transducer too deep in the water, about 1 1/2 inches. I used the same holes the lowrance skimmer transducer was in. Maybe because I reused the holes or too much force from the water, the screws started pulling out. I would like the transducer on the step for good readings slow and at speed. I hope this thread gets some responses to help us both out. My plan for now is to move closer to the center of the boat mounted on a piece of PVC house trim as close to the wire mesh screen as I can. The ducer will still be a little deep in the water, any further the motor will hit it. In the pic you can see the holes from old transducer and the other with my PVC trim board I intend to use two bolts for the board and then attach transducer to the board. Will my idea work guys or should I give up the higher speed readings.

Looks like we are both doing the same thing. I'm guessing mine is on the left because of my gas tank maybe. From what I have researched the right is better for prop wash and 12-15 inch from prop is ideal. I have considered moving mine to the other side. Hopefully we get some more input.

2 points to consider when mounting transom xducer ...

*Far enough from center for motor not to hit xducer at full negative trim and full lock to that side ...
*Far enough from center to not allow cavitation from xducer housing to enter lower unit water intakes ...
