The Stryker 5 does not have maps and I don't believe you can add maps. Only thing it has is GPS position where you can mark a spot and then return to it.
Im a newbie to fishing and electronics. Just bought a 2017 Pontoon that came with a Garmin Stryker GPS/Fish Finder. I have an older pontoon that I have installed a Hook 5 fish finder my wife gave me for Christmas two years ago. The Hook 5 has maps of the lakes on which I've had my boat. The Garmin may have the maps in it, but I'm not savy enough to find them. Been watching you tube videos and reading on forum and have learned a lot, but thought I'd ask this group for references/responses in hopes you can put me on the right path to learn more about my Garmin.
Presently, I'm incline to install the Hook 5 on the trolling motor and keep the Garmin installed as it is. I don't figure the Hook 5 will ad to the sale price of my older 25' Tracker. Advice and counsel on this would be most appreciated.

Correct. It will also track your route. I have used it quite a bit at night to travel the same way that I came in, and I also drop waypoints all the time so I can come back to submerged structure.
I have a Striker 5DV on the bow, and a 7SV on the console. I use the Navionics app on my phone (10 bucks) for navigation and contour maps, eventually I want to add a tablet mount on the console to handle that.
None of the Striker series units have maps, but they all have basic GPS.
I have used a Mark 4 and the Garmin has much better sonar, IMO.
