On a deal like this best to call motor guide. Sounds like a board problem of some kind.
My xi5 24 volt 60" unit is acting up. If I want to turn using the remote I might have to hit the turn button 10 or 12 times before it turns. Sometimes it turns right away but wraps cable around the shaft. If I go into anchor mode I might have to pull power plug because I can not terminate anchor mode. Sometimes right after working properly it will not function at all and then without warning start back working. Batteries in remote are new and trolling batteries are brand new Optima deep cycle batteries, largest deep cycle Optima makes. I google searched delayed response on xi5 and found no information that helps me. Anyone have a similar issue before?

We're headed back to the motor guide shop tomorrow. I talked to him just now on the phone and said sounds like a bad board.
Follow up to my first post. My remote was causing the problems. Even motor guide man thought it was going to be a bad board. I had no idea that sporadic intermittent problems would be coming from the remote.

I got moisture in my remote this last Saturday and it caused my trolling motor to go crazy and eventually quit working.
Not my rig but my fishing partner has been having problems with his and it’s the same model you have. Tech tested it and it worked fine. The tech probably isn’t using your remote. He just got a new remote we fished yesterday and it worked perfectly.
I got a new remote but all this crazy weather and deer hunting have kept me from giving it a work out. Maybe tomorrow.
I had the same exact problem just occur with mine. This is after they had replaced the board and after telling me they tried it with my remote. The remote was the problem.
