I’m currently in the decision you are referring to. I have (3) Mega 9’s but after fishing with a friend with livescope, I have been shopping for one myself. I’ve been holding off buying one to see if HB was coming out with anything compatible with the units I already have but I’m getting impatient.

If you only use the side and down imaging out to 100' feet max is the gen3 any better than gen2?

There's not many real user reports out yet on the G3 units yet ...

We just don't know yet ...

Pretty pictures but I want to SEE FISH!!!

I mean really did HB forget what they were supposed to be looking for or do these things "PING" so loud that they scared them all off????

I know it's deep water pics too show off what it can do but how many anglers really fish that deep??? I don't think so!

I will give HB this season since I need to save money anyway, but next year if they do not have a "LiveScope" version it's hello Garmin.

HB is great for finding fish, not just pretty pictures. The best side images on the market hands down. If you can't see and find fish using HB side image then I doubt any other name brand unit will help. HB down image is very good as well. I can ride over a brush pile and count individual fish and with a little practice determine their size.

Now Garmin Livescope is a diffrent animal. I think it looks like it could be a very useful tool for seeing live images of fish while you fish for them.
I have not seen any images other than Livescope from Garmin that even come close to what HB has.

Both are great tools but you really need to spend time on the water with any unit to really learn how to get the most from it.

I am a noob on this stuff as I still use a 10 year old Lowrance. However, I am strongly looking at the HB Helix 7 DI as a replacement.

What HB unit is the above image from?

    Thank, Tim
