    Default Good onboard chargers.

    Does such a thing exist?

Most of the XPS chargers from BPS have pretty lousy reviews. Same for the Dualpro chargers from Academy.

I run two batteries, but only one needs regular charging. I fish often enough that the starting battery seems to stay charged from the outboard. I have been using a Dewalt 4 amp charger/maintainer, but it seems to be dead after 6 months. Since then I've just been using a Schumaker trickle charger, but it takes forever to charge a group 29 battery at only 750ma.

I have tried a few brands with disappointing results. Using NOCO now and am satisfied...

NOCO genus. Get 2 bank and hook to both batteries. Does not hurt to keep cranking batter topped of as well as your trolling battery. They last a lot longer that way.

Whatever you get, get a "digital" unit ... and I would suggest getting a unit that puts out 10 amps per lead. They'll charge faster, which may mean keeping the plates cleaner (& the battery lasting longer).

I run a Minn-Kota 220 that's about 6-8yrs old and when it dies (if it ever does) I will replace it with a Minn-Kota 220D (or whatever digital system they have then). I run a 27 series cranking battery & 29 series TM battery ... and my 90hp Merc keeps the cranking battery charged if I do much running ... and my MK220 charger will charge the 29 series battery back up to full charge in a few hours, even after heavy use.

My buddy has the NOCO's on his boat, but they're only about a year old, so no feedback available on how long they'll last ... but they work fine, so far. His boat has 24v TM (2 batteries) and 90hp Yammy ... so he uses 2 Noco's. Don't know which models he has, though.

You couldn't go wrong with the Noco Gen2 20amp charger, that's charging both batteries at 10amps each. I have 3 batteries, two group 31's for TM and a 29 for cranking battery, electronics, live wells, bilge pump, gauges etc. I got the Noco Gen3 three bank charger and it does a very good job, it will top off two drained 31's in about 10 - 12 hours. It can't be beat for the money IMO, and I had a Minn Kota prior to this charger.

I’ve been using a cabelas pro mariner two bank four stage for a couple years now and like it. It’s charging two group 29DC batts I have probably eight portable chargers with the newest being from Walmart it’s a 2/10/25 amp Everstart smart charger with LCD status screen. So far it’s been good for actually charging battery’s to 100 percent and actually shutting down until it senses charging is needed.

I run the same units as Crappie Pappy and have for 10 years. I have nothing but great things to say about them. they have been through allot and keep on going. I have had several of my buddies try others and not so happy response's from them.

I am a guide and I put my batteries to the test year after year and the chargers have held up for so long. I have been nothing but pleased
