Default FIX! TM interference on FF.

Hello there. Thought I'd share a simple and most likely overlooked fix for the interference on your FF screen created when using your trolling motor.

Having recently rebuilt my Terrova 80, I experienced extreme interference on my Garmin 1042xsv after I had finished it and took it out for a spin. I researched this board and many others to find the issue. It appeared to be a ground issue from what I read but there seemed to be many different/conflicting causes and few remedies. My finders power is sourced from a separate panel from the main battery and my ducers are either on a pole (Panoptix) or the stern (UHD). A ground issue from my trolling motor did not seem logical but it was the problem.

Here's the fix. Note that my Terrova is a 2012 and some earlier models may not have this ground wire installed in factory. There is a brown 18-20 gauge wire attached to the board that holds the brushes. It goes up the shaft and into the head at the top. Inside that housing there is a rubber inline fuse holder for that wire. Inside is a 3 amp blade style fuse. Here's where it gets tricky. I had previously checked that ground and fuse. The fuse appeared to be in perfect shape. No sign of being blown. I just happened to have my ohm meter close by when troubleshooting it for the second time. The fuse that looked good was bad. Replaced with a new fuse and all that interference is gone.

    Hope this helps someone.

some people have solved it by using a larger 5 amp fuse as well
