Thread: Navionics card freezing up my helix 9

Is your card the little tiny card you can hardly hold onto or is it the larger you can hold fairly easily between thumb and finger. Do both units take same size card?

A corrupt Waypoint can sometimes cause weird gremlins similar to this ...

It might be a good idea to back up the waypoints to a blank SD card and Format Nav Directories under the Setup tab ...

Then test the unit with the map card ...

If the gremlin is fixed - the waypoints on the SD card should then be opened in Humminbird PC to search for corrupt waypoints ... (erroneous dates, lat/lon numbers that don't seem right, Waypoint names that have other characters from numbers or letters, ... even duplicate waypoints can create gremlins) ...

Correct, the adapter is the square piece the micro card is inserted into.

If I read your previous post correctly neither your lowrance or humminbird unit will read the map card. That would lead me to believe your map card is the issue.

you are correct so far it does not work in either depth finder so it may be the card. Cant remember exactly where I bought card now will have to check pay pal records and see if I can find transaction]

just a update the card works fine in my HDS 7 touch gen 2 but still will not work in my helix 9 gen 2.. did online chat with Navionics and they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work.. told me to update my helix to the latest software but that doesn't seem like a good idea as everyone says it has glitches in it.. they say the card is a 2011 version, thought when I bought it fellow said it was only a couple years old but cant swear to it.

What version of software does your Helix 9 have in it now? If your needing to update to 1.83 or 1.84 from what I have been reading, some people it works, others are having a real heck of a time with it. If you happpen to need 1.64 to go back to (if it works in the Helix 9). I can send you a copy. I have a Helix Mega and have 1.64 in it, but can’t bring myself to upgrade to 1.84. Still, I may take the plunge and upgrade if the itch gets to me.

to be honest haven't checked, just looked at box but doesn't have anything on it like my Lowrance does.. boat is under cover now so will have to wait till rain finishes in a couple days before I can check.. appreciate the offer and will let you know. I would just as soon leave mine alone if there's any chance of it messing it up. I did find out by going back thru my ebay transactions and looking at the old ad my card has 2016 updates on it whatever that means.
