    Default Helix 7 Update

I have a 3 year old Helix 7 Si/GPS and I have never performed a software update. If I complete the most current update, will this catch everything up or are there other steps I should take?

Just saw your post and I'm curious ( because I'm trying to decide if I should spend the bucks to buy a side imaging unit to replace my down image one) if you feel like the side image unit was worth it to you. From what I have seen a down image unit only shows an area about 1/3 the depth of water you are in. So if I'm in 15 ft of water I'm only seeing a cone that only covers a circle about 5ft in diameter.

If I understand it correctly, my down imaging uses data from the side imaging. I can change my down imaging width on the Helix 7. I believe there is 3 settings (Wide, Normal, Narrow) I upgraded from a Humminbird 2D sonar/DI. I’ve enjoyed the upgrade. If I were upgrading now, I would consider one of the Mega Imaging units.

HB SI core numbered series, HELIX SI gen1 series, and HELIX 7 SI gen2 series do not have a dedicated DI piezo for DI imaging ... The DI view is a computer generated rendering using the data from the SI piezoes ...

All HB DI series, HELIX SI MEGA series, ONIX SI series, and SOLIX SI series have a dedicated DI piezo ...
