Default Hey Rickie, Does the Humminbird XHS 9 HDSI 180 T Transducer

    Work on a Helix 7 G2 SI?

The unit isn't in the compatible list on the factory outlet store website.

Will it make a big difference in my side images?

They are on sale right now.

Do you know whether there is a significant improvement in SI images?

That would be a question for Rickie as I have only had a 899si hummingbird and not the newer Helix models. I just wish I knew just a little of what Rickie knows about sonar. Rickie is the sonar man for sure.

Im trying to figure out whether its worth sinking $200 into a ducer or apply that 200 to a Helix 10 mega ?

If you can afford it go for the Helix 10 SI mega. This I do know bigger is always better with sonar.

The reading I have done on a couple of Facebook sites for Humminbird, the guys are really happy with the improved results on SI. If your budget is where you could afford it I would go with bigger unit that comes with that transducer. I have my 7 mounted on trolling motor and use it primarily for DI. So not looking to up grade mine because I don't think there is a big improvement between the 2 on DI side.

Do any of the new Helix Mega units come with the hd ducer as standard equipment? If they do, I think I will buy one of those and just move my helix 7 up front on the trolling motor.

The helix mega units come with a somewhat advanced hdsi transducer. It has all the capabilities of the hdsi plus mega frequency capabilities. It will have the longer si elements like the hdsi ducer to show better details So actually the mega transducers are better. After having a helix 12 gen 1 and now have a Solix/Onix network I would definitely use the money to get the mega units.

The mega transducer that comes standard with all helix mega units
