    Default C-map Genisis question

Those of you that have used this. How long did it take after you uploaded your sonar log to their website until the map was ready to view and download onto your sd card? I only have the free account for now if that matters.

    Thanks

My experience has been 2-4 days after uploading the sonar logs. I just uploaded 20 logs Aug 2nd and 8 of them have made it to the social map as of today.
Try and keep the sonar logs to around an hour max. The uploading of the files can take several hours depending on your upload speed from your provider.
Most of the logs I just uploaded approx (500-700 mb in size) took an hour or two at my house if it uploaded at all before timing out,
so I went to my sons who has a different provider and the same logs took 5-8 minutes to upload. His upload speed was 7.
I also only have the free account at this time.
    Good luck.

I uploaded on July 30th. On my dashboard(C-map genesis website) there's a box called trips. When I move my pointer onto it another box appears on top of it saying available only with genesis edge. There is another box below that that shows your recent uploads. It lists my sonar log as done under the status. In Social no.

That is how mine appears as well.
I just checked mine and now the same box you are referring to shows a total of 12 out of 20 sonar logs in social map.
If you don't see any change after about a week try sending an e-mail containing your sonar log information.
I have done that in the past and they did respond back stating something to the effect that the sonar log is looked at by them and must be approved before it is added to the social map.

Just checked mine. Nothing yet. Has been a week now. I only have 2 and they aren't that big. This system wouldn't be worth a crap if you were on vacation and wanting to make a map. Just curious, do you have a paid subscription?

Maybe Humminbird Auto chart live is the way to go?

    Thanks for the update Tony

Early on when the mapping with Lowrance first started(years ago) I did have a paid subscription but let it expire. The whole mapping format was a bit different regarding keeping your sonar logs private or not. At that time there was no Social Map. When Social Map became a part of the system I let my subscription expire and added my mapping sonar logs to the social map system. I have in the past and present experienced difficultly mostly with the uploading of the sonar logs. I opted for the Reefmaster program which I haven't mastered as of yet but do like. I'm a bit computer challenged which is 99% of the problem with Reefmaster for me. I still have 3 logs that haven't been added to the social map. I'll wait a few more days before I myself try and contact Genesis mapping. Let me know how yours turns out. The concept of Social maps is inspiring but does seem to have a hurdle or 2 to deal with. Also it is free unless the bottom hardness etc is important. Another thing regarding the mapping is the try and keep your logs to around an hour or so as this seems to help with the uploading process. Also name the logs when you first start with a system that you can keep straight(lake name, date, log number etc).

I received a reply " The average time for a public log to show up on the Social Map is 5 business days." I too use to have a paid subscription that I also let expire. Did a couple maps then.
Seems like it only took a few hours before I got them back. I would renew it if they could get them back in a reasonable amount of time. Not sure how on the amount time I was recording, but under half an hour. Hadn't done it for awhile and was just making sure I remembered how.
