    Default H'bird GPS Receiver/Heading sensor

I just got the AS GPS HS from BBG marine. Will this thing hook to two units? Will I have to purchase another cable to do so?

Phone call to Brian would answer the question and if another cable is needed he could furnish that too. He is an awesome vendor.

I just took it out of the box, I think it just plugs into the back of a unit, maybe the connection is wireless. I'll try to read the instructions. I hate reading instructions. LOL

A HB GPS antenna connects to 1 unit ...

It can then be shared thru Ethernet (under the Networking tab) if desired ...

Thanks. I guess what originally threw me was that I was trying to figure out how to hook it to power like the magnetic compass that came with my Ulterra. Now if I understand it correctly, it gets it's power from the Helix unit itself. Just plug and play.

The Y connector that came with the AS GPS HS, would be used to connect two units together, via ethernet connection, correct?

Correct .... The AS GPS HS antenna gets power from the head unit it is connected to ...
    -----

The AS YC cable that comes with most head units and the GPS antenna are for connecting 2 accessory devices to 1 head unit ...

Once connected - an accessory device is then available in the Ethernet networking menus of all Ethernet connected units ...

If helix and sharing a hs gps. Both units will pull gps and heading from hs through Ethernet connection. If solix line can share gps and heading separate.

I made a big deal about possibly the easiest thing to install that I've installed in my boat. I guess when I opened it and saw no wires for attaching to a power supply it threw me for a loop. It may look just like the magnetic compass that comes with the Ulterra but it doesn't hook up the same way. LOL

Will the Ulterra read the AS GPS HS? I don't think it has the bluetooth capbilities but thought I'd ask.

Assuming you're referring to the newer MK Bluetooth TMs. The Heading Sensor used with those only provide Heading that is connected to the TM via Bluetooth. The GPS receiver is internal to the TM head. The AS GPS HS provides both GPS and Heading and will not connect with the TMs.
