    Default lowrance transducer

Just bought a hook7 with side image, the transducer is so long I'm concerned about snagging on stuff. Any ideas on protecting it or just mount it and go?
    It's on a pontoon

I didn't know you could get SI with the hook 7. Learn something every day.

You might look at using this bracket. Depending on where you mount it, you can raise and lower it.

I have a totalscan transducer for my elite. It's mounted on the bottom of the transom step back (fiberglass). Not sure what kind of boat you have but the big transducers are easily susceptible to damage.

That depends on if it's "Splitshot" or "Tripleshot" .... Splitshot is DI & Chirp 2d -- Tripleshot is SI, DI, & Chirp 2d

So, if you're worried about that foot long paddle shaped transdx .... you have Tripleshot.

If you have SI capabilities .... you're going to need to put that transdx somewhere it'll have a clear view out both sides of the boat. The "toons" can't be in the way, nor can the motor ... or your signal will be impeded or blocked on that side. Remember ... the SI signal radiates out at "almost" 180deg (almost from the water's surface on one side of the boat to the water's surface on the other side of the boat).

You may have to mount it something like this fellow did (and he says a little tilt of the motor and it scans just fine) :

Pappy you know more what I have than I do,it is the triple shot. Thanks to y'all for the ideas.
I am setting up a 20' pontoon and it does create problems fishing boats don't have.
