I have ONIX which is the same Menu System ...

My OCD can no-no handle fingerprints on the screen ...

But the buttons work well ... Joystick and rotary wheel are cewlbeanz ...

Rotary wheel Sensitivity adjustment without touching screen or buttons is really cewlbeanz ...(Sensitivity should be the most often used adjustment with HB units - regardless if viewing 2d, DI, or SI) ...

Menu is deep ... but not any more so than Lowrance ... just different ...

My buddy had all kinds of problems with his Solix 15, the unit have been replaced once and the transducer twice. The unit locks up randomly and will have to shut it down and restart a couple times every trip out. He has 8 gauge wire ran from 2 group 31 AGM batteries paralleled together, he even bought a an expensive set of crimpers for the wiring. Just this past Saturday we were fishing in my boat with Helix with Mega, he made the statement that if he could do over he would have gotten a Helix 12 because the imaging is the same.

I have a solix 15 and a 10 not 1 issue with my 10 and I will say it is as clear as you could ask for. My 15 I had some issues map cards not sharing running battery dead fast I ran 12g wire and now have it on it's own battery and have had no problems. I have fished about 20 days with mine so far i do keep glass cleaner in the boat now and clean screen at least once a day i have more of a water spot problem when swinging in the fish

Regardless of make I suffer from the upgrade fever. When Humminbird released the Solix I started saving for it. Got impatient and got the Helix 10 G2N MEGA instead. This 1500 dollar investment became a headache. Had several problems with it and have solved some work arounds so I can at least use it. From what I understand from extensive research, the Helix G2 's and Solix's are suffering some common problems and some not in common.

One of the more common problems incorrect depth readings. A promised update has yet to be released to correct this. When the Onix was first released it suffered numerous software glitches. Years after their release I guess they are fairly stable now.

If you are completely satisfied with your present system. I would hold off until present problems are finally solved with these newer lines. If not once the headaches are dealt with. You might want to buy then

I have a 12” Solix, very stable unit, no freeze ups or restarting.
On the finger print issue, my friend RDJJ fixed that for me.
He gave me a stylus like you would use on an iPad, or phone.
    Shazam no fingerprints.

Are them same batteries running the trolling motor too? That doesn't work well if he is.

No, they are separate from the trolling motor.
