    Default Helix Series Confusion

Could someone enlighten me with the latest to oldest as a list for the Helix models? I am getting lost between all the Mega, Chirp, G2N, and the others.

    Thanks in advance!!

There is Legacy, Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 2N.
Mega, Chirp, auto chart, etc. are added technology.
SI, DI, 2d, and 360 is the "view" into the water.
Each of these brake outs have options, and/or do different things.
Basically, you have a head unit and a transducer. Options depend on your needs. Too simplify it, you first need to understand the options. Then figure out which head unit (generation) has the options you want.
Realize that options cost money. Buy what you need. I can go into more depth later when I'm on my laptop. Typing on the phone is a challenge for me.

The latest Helix models would be G2 or G2N . The G2N 9 and higher SI units all come standard with the Mega SI transducder with a dedicated DI element. Anything with Mega in the name is the current mode.

The previous generation Helix models would not have any reference to what generation they are in the name ... eg Helix 10 SI GPS

The generation previous to that would be the XX99 series units ... Eg 1199i HD SI

The generation previous to that would be the XX98 series units ... EG 1198 HD SI

The generation previous to that would be the XX97 series units.

There is also another product line that has more features and is more customizable ... The Onix was the first generation and the Solix is the current generation of tht product line.

The G1 Helix 12 had chirp 2D .... other than that it is only G2 units that have chirp... or the Onix/Solix units.

Chirp is on different generations. Not all units in each generation, but it spans generations. New technology is rolled out on higher end units one year, and on most units in the next generation. Each generation has price point breaks and that translates into technology options.

THIS is correct info ~ So is the other post from Bob.

The Helix 12 Chirp Gen1 variants are the only ones that had Chirp - the G2N models that are non-Mega (MSI or MDI) with Chirp had a short production run and are hard to find.

I was going to add a Helix10 Chirp DI G2N, but when the MDI model was released, I got one of those instead.

You CANNOT add a Mega XDCR to any unit to get Mega technology on it.
