    Default Humminbird 1.640 download

I have heard differing opinions on how quickly to embrace the latest software download. I assume Humminbird has done extensive testing prior to releasing the software update so am inclined to move forward. Conflicting thoughts?

I always wait to update my units, I let others test it out and see if there are issues. Often there is. Also I see if the update has anything in it that I could use, often there is not. If nothing good why update?

I loaded it last week on a G1 unit (SI) and didn't see any problems over a short time of using it. I probably didn't check everything out thorough enough to give a valid opinion other than I can vouch if the unit is updated properly then it won't blow up....LOL Didn't really see any operational benefit other than more contrast adjustability in 2D which was never a problem for me before the update and don't really need to see sunrise/sunset or lunar phases on it...LOL

Note: If you have a copy of the software currently on your unit, you can always try the newer update and revert back

As I read the instructions it calls for restoring the defaults. I assume, then, that after the download I have to go back and reset all the personalized settings?

I installed it yesterday and it didn't fix the bug in my I pilot mapping. Boat icon still flashing on and off and off and off and on/off, on.... off, on, off. You get the idea. I'm calling MK and HB Monday.

Well, is there an easy way to remember which settings need to be addressed after restoring defaults and downloading the update (says the novice that cannot seem to remember what day it is)?
