Default Turn DI transducer to scan ahead??

So I’m having a little trouble convincing the wife that I need to drop $1000 on a 360 transducer. I have a DI transducer. Has anyone ever tried positioning a DI transducer where it would scan straight ahead? If so, did it work well? Also, I’ve thought about trying to turn SI transducer 90 degrees right or left to see what kind of results I might get. Any info is appreciated. If I hear her say BUST OUT ANOTHER THOUSAND one more time....

Default Turn DI transducer to scan ahead??

Imaging (DI or SI) requires forward movement perpendicular to the xducer piezoes to create imaging (think of a MRI taking "slice" segment pictures of the human body) ...

It is possible to slowly "sweep" an imaging xducer left to right or right to left and get an image ...but still takes some interpretation to understand what is being plotted on the unit display ...

I have a si ducer on my tm. I turn it 90 and sweep it around looking ahead. It does take some getting used to. I have scanned ahead a few times and saw the fish in a particular direction, turned that way and instant bites.

Ice fishermen scan in outward direction to aid in hole placement, expecialy in larger bodies of water.

Scanning down a marina dock (the vertical line on my right). A crappie school at 2:00 roughly 65 feet away

I pulled up to the closest slip next to the boat (hull ridges visible on my right). The ridges on the left are the hull of the boat in the next slip
Crappie schools can seen at the end of both slips under the center walkway
