Default Helix 9 Mega SI G2N installation

Has anyone in the Washington, Labadie, Union or just Mid-Mo area installed a Mega transducer on a transom and would possibly be willing to give some advice (or even help for beer and/or $$)?

I have a 2011 Triton 18Explorer. It has a small step, then the transom. I know the step isn't the place to install it, but my motor mount doesn't leave a huge amount of room between it and the bottom of the transom. I don't have a jack plate. Humminbird says keep it out of the "jet stream" when you're on plane, but I'm not 100% sure how far up the transom that might be. I believe it's going to have to go right in the middle under the motor, but I don't have any experience installing these. This is the kind of thing I typically have no problem doing, but given the location, I only want to have to do this once.

I was going to have it done somewhere, but I'm impatient and because of BP's Spring sale, everyone is backed up to the end of the month.

The lower step is the only part of the hull in the water on plane ...

Mount the xducer on the upper step at least far enough to the side that the motor doesn't hit it at full lock to that side ...

Then if you need high speed depth readings you will need a shoot thru XP 9 20 epoxied in the hull and the 9 MSIDB Y cable ...
