    Default stepped hull transducer placement

    http://

I am in the process of installing a helix 10 on my tracker PT 185. I am wanting to install the 2d ducer on the step for on plane readings and keep my hdsi transducer higher on the transom to protect it. I have installed mounting pads in these locations. Do you see any problems with these locations. The original transducer will be removed. Thanks

The only possible issue I see is the left SI beam of the MEGA xducer mounting spot may pick up the skimmer on the port side ... You will know this if there is a hard echo line to the left of, and parallel to the center line in the SI image ...

The lower skimmer mount at the bottom of the step should be fine ...

Ok thanks. I will remove the port side skimmer when I mount the new ones.

ricky81, how does your HDSI transducer work in your location. I am looking at placing one in the same location. What speed do you start getting distortion? Did you put HDSI transducer at the bottom of the hull at the step or did you line it up with the "new 5 inch hull created due to the step?

I put my HDSI on the upper mounting plate in the picture, then I put a skimmer ducer on the lower plate to get on plane readings. I only use the HDSI for scanning 5-7mph, the skimmer on bottom will keep your depth readings while on plane. You just need a Y cable to run both.
