You can accomplish the scroll back by recording and playing back, but a little more trouble to do that.
Bob,I see what your saying, but scroll back is already available. (Imo)...I like what hummibird appears to be doing. There making a quality unit, that the average person can afford and also making the Onix, with all that extra stuff, that many people don't need. (There giving quality jobs to people, here in the USA while still being competitive with companies abroad)

That right there is what always tips the scale their way for me.

I always try my best to buy American. Sometimes it is impossible, like buying a TV. Even with American companies, I take it to the extreme sometimes and my wife laughs or gets mad at me. I won't set foot in a Target or Home Depot.

I am planning to buy a Helix 10 SI MEGA soon. I have a Helix 5 (sonar only) at the console and a 859 HD DI at the front of the boat. If it were you, where would you mount the MEGA? Someone told me the way to go is the console so you can mark structure while covering a lot of water. But I think it would also be good to have it where you spend most the time while on the water.

With the new mega for me without a doubt, on the front with the dedicated di and si when I'm looking for a particular structure I can see if it is on left or right . I also spend a lot more time at the front than at the console .

Console. DI views below 1-2mph do me no good. At idle speed they're amazing. I find SI useful upfront while trolling 1mph or less. Really helps me stay in creek channels or on channel ledges

Console for me with you having a 859 DI upfront. I fish a lot of different lakes and a lot of new water. With it at the console you can cover water fast to check waypoints you have for fish and also for new structure and cover. I can run 4-5 mph and still get an acceptable image on my 999SI at the console, then TM out and fish the structure with 958 or my 360. I would love to have the new Helix Mega 10 at my console .... but I will have to wait a while on that. Just my $.02

That sucks. I just bought a Helix 10 in September. I can't afford another unit right now.

Wonder if it will help enhance 360 images as well?
The CHIRP that Humminbird introduced for its 2016 units was ONLY 2D CHIRP. What we said was that it would give you better 2D imaging, not drastically better, but better indeed. I believe we also pointed out that 2D CHRIP was still not as good of imaging as DI from the same unit- I stand by this still. The G2 Humminbird units will not only have 2D CHIRP, but also DI CHIRP, and SI CHIRP. I'm still learning all the details at this time. Come back again this year and we'll go through it at the seminars!
