    Default hummingbird 800 series

Does anyone know if they are going to be discontinued? Thinking about upgrading and it fits my budget right now. Hate to go that way if they are going to be obsolete.

800, 900, and 1100 series are all going away. They are considered core series and are being replaced with the Helix series.

Here is a list that has already been discontinued and like criddy said the Helix will take the place of others also. But this is also what makes the older models more affordable. Nothing wrong with buying the older models as if it quits working buy another one as you have saved the money up front as they are as much as just half the price of the newer models. Sonars are like computers, if you bought the biggest and best that they sell by the time you got it outside of the store they will be a bigger and better model already made and this includes all the fish sonar companies.

Legacy units will receive the same updates as new production units as long as the hardware in the Legacy unit will support the update features ...

My 1197 (I bought new in 2009) with version 4.500 received updates all the way to 6.660 (in 2014 IIRC) ...

Legacy units are serviceable way past the available update period ...

So do you guys think buying a 899 HD di si would be ok instead of the helix 7? Did talk to hummingbird kinda got the impression that they will be supporting it for awhile since it just came out in 14. I know the 899 has more bells and whistles than the helix...

If you have a unit that is on the discontinued list will Humminbird still support it if it is still under warranty?

    Thanks

Yes as long as it meets HB's warranty verbiage ...
