Default Question for the I-Link Pros

Have owned my I-link quite awhile now but have not used the follow the contour very much.

Been studying a particular spot on one of my local lakes. Have anchor fished there many times and have done good when wind has been co-operative. The most productive depth is say 16 -18 ft on a steep drop off from this huge mid lake hump. Since the productive area is so narrow it is a $%#@^&%$# to keep the boat positioned. Even with the spot lock engaged.

So I git to thinking why not try the follow the contour trick. Which brings me to my question. Will the terrova follow the contour feature say the 18 foot contour all the way around the hump. My common sense tells me that it would follow it continually until I shut it off or change depth contour to follow.

But as I have found in the past " common sense " does not always apply in fishing and especially in electronics. In about a week or so I can try it myself and find out. But I sure would like to know the answer before I get to go. Make for a little easier planning.

From my observations (but I don't own a Ilink), it should work based on your common sense thought process. You will need an Ilink compatible card to utilize the Ilink/follow the contour, or you could just deploy the TM, activate the recording/Itrack feature and use the big motor to create a circle around the hump, then let the TM do it's thing over and over. You could even vary your circle around the hump to provide slightly different casting/trolling options on any given day/time. Just don't erase the recording. LOL

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I also do not own one but my interpretation of the whole system was that if the lake in question isn't on the card, you couldn't use the I-link follow contour feature. I could be wrong but I remember doing some research on it about a year ago and this seems to stick in my head.

It was one of the main reasons I stayed with Lowrance on my new boat instead of going to HB

Wick is right about if your lake isn't on the card, you couldn't use the follow the contour. However you can lay down a track and follow it.
