Thread: Original hds 7 vs the hds7 gen 2

It appears to me that you HAD an HDS 7 gen 1 and purchased an HDS 7 Gen 2? It appears you are used to some settings (or menus) that the Gen 1 had that you do not see in the Gen 2. Is that correct?

Sometimes upgrades in technology don't always upgrade what you can/used to be able to do. In my opinion though I've had nothing but success and great things to say about Lowrance tech support. If you are having an issue, or simply cannot find out how to do something, go to their website and then Contact. Make sure you have your unit serial number. Send them an email detailing the issue or what you are trying to accomplish.

I had a setting change after an update. I contacted them at 8pm. I recieved an email back at 10:30 that same night. It detailed exactly how to accomplish what I was looking for. Remember, these guys work with these products all the time. Their job is to help you navigate and find things you want done. Give it a shot.

HDS 5 and 7 do not have soft touch buttons (gen 1 or 2), the 8's and 10's have them.

I have an HDS 7, Gen 1. Is there something you need me to check?

Yes please. Do you have a check box for AUTO in your structure scan setting where you adjust the contrast just like you do in sonar settings? Thank u

Thank u for your answer. Yes I too like lowrance and have been with them for years. I sent in my 1st gen for repair and they sent me back a gen 2 seven which has an auto box on the structure scan settings that I was not used to plus the contrast settings have changed. In competes on to the old 7 I do not like the change at all. I get nowhere near the picture. I have described this to them and told them to just send me a gen 1. They don't have anymore. I was just checking to see if anyone else has problem with the settings on structure scan on 7 gen 2 or know the difference?

Crappiegirl if slidedar is in your setting bring it up on screen and take a picture with phone of it and post here that way all will get a better understanding and may be able to offer better help. jax
