What Minn Kota are you installing? You can hurt a lot of things if you don't do it right and the motor isn't a 24V motor.

Use 6 gauge wire and a 50 amp breaker. Don't hook anything to the batteries except the TM. Wire the batteries in series like this.

Check the max amps on your plug and your plug-in as well......had a 12 volt TM on my boat then went to a 24 volt, used the old plug-in off the old TM as it would fit the plug in the boat.....well it started getting hot so up sized it to a 50 amp and not had any problems at all....spent about 35 bucks on replacing them but well woth it.
My boat maybe old, but shes still... FAST !!

I bought the trolling motor plug and receptacle from battery tender to hook up my 24v Minn Kota this spring and love it. Easy to install and the installation looks clean in the boat.
It ended up being cheaper than the MK factory plug or the quality Marinco plugs.
