As the name implies, the "micro SD" is a small version of a SD card, the adapter is a SD size adapter that the micro SD card fits in. It looks just like a SD card but has a small slot for the micro SD card to go in. You may or may not need this, it depends on your computer. Some computers have slots for both and some older ones only have the slot for the SD. The ELite-5 DSI used the micro card, no adapter needed.

Lowrance update their units from time to time for various reasons. When they do this you can go to their site and download the update to your computer, then to the memory card and finally to the depth finder. There are instructions on Lowrances site to check what software version your unit is running, you can also check for up dates while your there. I know there is one update, but your unit may be new enough to have it on it from the factory.

The Elite-5 DSI has no 2d sonar and uses a dedicated DI transducer. So no US2. My personal experience with US2 has not been good, I've tried it on a HB 747C and my HDS-7. On the HB I tried everything but the choke and would've tried it but HB wouldn't send me one. The customer service lady told me it was only for "larger" units. When I bought my HDS I also bought the adapter cable for the US2 but had the same interference as the HB did, so I just mounted the transducer that came with it on the tm. My tm is a Minn Kota Maxxum Pro that was on the boat when I purchased it, I wouldn't spend the extra $$ to get US2 on a new tm. This is just my experience with US2, your results may be better .

I just re-read your post. No the XD card will not work, it has to be a Micro SD. Sorry I didn't catch it the first time.

Pappy, The last Micro card I bought came with the adapter card. I got it a Wally World.

Justin, I agree with you about the US2 at least from my US1 experiences. The new Terrovas come with the US2 and it is no longer an option.

Here is another question for you. I noticed at Bass Pro they had a transducer trolling motor mount that says its for the Elite. It had a strange looking piece of plastic in it. Is this needed? I know a lot of times all you need is the clamp. I'm suppose to get my Elite tomorrow so maybe it will all make sense then. I've already spent more on this new rig than I planned so If I can save 30 bucks I need to do so.banghead

I used one of my old Lowrance tm brackets that I've had for years instead of buying a new one.

Bill ... that long piece of plastic is for the transducer to slip in, then it has clamp slots so you can attach it to your tm head. That's how I have mine attached. It's kinda like a sleeve, and just puts the transducer closer to the tm. If you look at Justin's pic ... look at the black plastic part, that hangs down from the bracket. The "fin" shaped part at the top, will come loose from the long "barrel" shaped lower part. The lower "barrel" shaped piece slips into that plastic piece, then the band clamp secures it to the tm's lower unit.
The guy I bought mine from, sent two transducers in the deal ... one was brand new (that came with the new unit), and one that he'd been using on his tm. There was one transom mount setup, and one with the plastic sleeve tm thingy. I used the sleeve setup along with the "used" transducer ... keeping the brand new transducer as a backup. Had the deal not included the sleeve thingy ... I'd have mounted it just like Justin's pic shows, and never thought another thing about it.

About the only "extra" postive thing I can think of about the sleeve setup ... is that it does keep the transducer close to the tm's lower unit, and not sticking out from it. It's a little more "protected" that way. But ... let me tell you, if it costs $30 for that sleeve mounting bracket thingy ... and one had not come with the deal ..."I" wouldn't have bought one Rofl

BUT ..... IF you do decide to buy one ... check out this deal : Lowrance DSI Trolling Motor Transducer Adaptor

Got it yesterday but I'm still trying to get the Terrova mounted. I've got to get my body into a place on the boat that it doesn't want to go. LOL You are right tho, the manual is a joke.

Rofl ... is that what keeps the pep in YOUR step, Tom ??

You being a "rocket scientist" & all .... maybe you can tell me what angles a DSI cone puts out (455kHz & 800kHz, if that matters )
