Your options are 2 12V batteries weighing about 130lbs total that will give you about 450 minutes RC, 3 8V batteries weighing around 190lbs total giving you around 600 minute RC, or 4 6V batteries weighing about 250lbs total and giving you around 800 minutes RC. There is no substitute for weight when it comes to battery capacity.

Downsides to the 8V batteries is that your charger choices will be limited. A downside to both the 6 and 8V batteries is that if one fails on you, you will probably be shut down for a few days waiting for a replacement.

on the two 12 volt what brand battery would you run or is there any diffidence? Had a guy explain it to me once but refresh me if trolling batteries are run down very weak only 10% left how long to charge them? My minn kota charger took 4 days but I hooked up big charger also next time and lot quicker. A charger is like 45amps per hour right? 1000 amp barberry take roughly 21 hours to charge and twice as long for two batteries?

Deep cycle batteries are pretty much worthless once they reach the 50% charge state. Chargers vary on how much they charge. A slow charge is much better for the batteries than a fast charge. K I run my battery down once trolling multiple days the onboard charger couldn't keep up at night. Just trying to find the best 12 volt battery there is for lots of trolling. I don't understand the bci chart I think its called or what amps are best. Just wanna buy the best when I replace them. Thanks

The key spec you are looking for is RC. That tells you how the battery performs with a 25A draw. More RC means longer time on the water. RC and battery weight within a battery type are tied closely together, so you usually can't go wrong by getting the heaviest battery you can find.

The Trojan SCS225 is the biggest commonly available battery at 225 minute RC. They aren't sold a lot of places, and they are going to set you back a couple of hundred a piece. This is pretty well the king of the long day on the water.

There are several batteries that can give you around 205 minute RC in the $100 price range. The Everstart Maxx 29 is the most commonly available, easiest to find and the cheapest. In terms of bang for the buck, it has no equal.

When you deeply discharge a battery frequently, you shorten its life. Pretty simple. You use it hard it doesn't last as long. AGM batteries are a little better at handling hard use so they will last longer. But they cost significantly more, and are heavier than a conventional battery of the same RC.

The Sears Diehard PM-1 is a big AGM that will give you 205 minute RC and a longer life, but you'll pay $300+ for each one and probably need a new charger to supply the 40A they want when being used hard.

Charging batteries takes time. Charging big batteries takes more time. The more you discharge them, the longer it takes to recharge. Theoretically, if you take half the capacity out of a 100AH battery, and then charge it with a 10A charger, it should take 5 hours to recharge. But about half of what you put into the battery is wasted as heat, so it really takes about 10 hours. AGMs are better about not wasting as much charging current, so they tend to charge faster. To maximize your battery life when using them hard, you probably want a 15A per bank charger.

It's hard to beat the Everstarts. Even replacing them every other year they are cheaper than most other options. I know a guy who has two sets. He leaves one in the truck and swaps batteries at lunch time so he has a fresh set for the afternoon. You have $400 total in your batteries and can probably fish all you want.

The hard thing about recommending batteries is that so much depends on how you fish, how long you fish, how often you fish, the water you fish, your budget and your boat. The perfect battery for me may be junk for you, and the perfect battery for you may be a crazy waste of money for me.
