Humminbird includes Switchfire 2D sonar and Down Imaging so you get both in the same package. Other is DI only.
I'm torn between the two fishfinders. Humminbird 570DI or Lowrance Mark 5x DSI. There both about the same price. If any of yall have either one I like to hear what ya think of it. There a bit out of my price range but figured might be able to save up by the Spring. Yall take care.

I am clueless about hi-tech electronics. Why would a person need
2D sonar if they had down imaging?
I don't have to worry too much about that jaxaprat. I only have a 9.9 on my jon boat. It's bout as slow as I'll get out, but it's a crappie catching machine.lol
I'm dealing with the same problem ,leaning toward elite 5 dsi combo just hoping once I go with down scan I don't regret it.

I saved $100 on my Lowrance Elite 5 DSI by looking around the net...The UPS man dropped it off today only took 4 days to get it.I'm happy with that service and price.
2D sonar allows you to watch your bait if you vertical fish because of the larger coverage area - cone shaped coverage versus DI is very narrow front to rear but spreads wider to the sides in a fan shaped coverage area. Also it is a great tool for those use to 2D sonar to transition to high frequency DI sonar. Humminbird has tested DI to 50mph so for most speed will not be an issue if transducer is mounted for on-plane readings.

I have no problems seeing my jig in DI or SI.
