What kind of unit do you have. I've heard that Lowrance cables are thicker and won't fit in the groove. Any HB unit I've used has fit in the slot.

LOWRANCE cables will not fit in the groove. They are too big, sorry.

Might have this covered already, but I saw some similar, but not exact... But anyway, I got the Terrova (12V with the long shaft with the built in I-Pilot and I-Link. Got that mounted on the boat. Also got a 859 HD DI unit and sent off to the Humminbird to get the transducer to mount on the trolling motor - as I plan on this unit being mounted up in the bow (later will get a SI unit, maybe... but that is a couple more Christmas' worth of gift cards and saving). Anyway, I got the transducer mounted tonight on the trolling motor (see pics attached) but I am little concerned as everything else I have seen has the fin in the back and the transducer in the front. As you see mine is pretty much the only location that it will mount. I have two concerns, just not knowing. Is that fin going cause a shadow? I can't say for sure but it looks to maybe be in the cone of the transducer. My second concern, being that close to prop is that going to cause any interferance on the transducer? Thanks in advance. The information in this forum has been most helpful in both making the choice to go this route, configuration, and so far with the installation.

I just finished a complete restoration on a 93 Bass Tracker Pro 17, and bit the bullet and bought the 12v short shaft Terrova. I already had a Humminbird 797 w/ SI. I watched some You Tube videos and also this thread to determine the best way to install the transducer. I ran the cable down in between the coiled cable on the Terrova, and also routed the cable through some braided cable protection loom stuff that worked pretty well. I also wrapped the cable in some plastic split loom as it goes from the shaft down around the motor. While I had it all apart I used some heat shrink and tie wraps at the ends of the shaft and some self fusing silicon tape at the ends of the braided loom. I just used clear silicon to attach the cable into the groove. So far everything seems to be working well.

I also used one of the little plastic "cable hole cover" to allow me to stash the extra cable length under the bow (in a figure 8).

I am not sure if you can see any of this from the photo. If anyone is interested, I can take some closer pics and post them.

    Daryn,

I would appreciate any close up photos of the routing and installation you can provide. I am thinking about a Terrova...

    Many Thanks,

    Jerry
