I noticed you have a bungie around your head unit. Do you not like moving the locking collar for transport?

I don't like to stress that collar by clamping and un-clamping it all the time. This holds the motor shaft forward and down which takes pressure off the stow claw linkage mechanism and prevents the shaft from moving. Some use a RAM mount stabilizer. It also stops any vibration while on the road and I don't worry about where the depth is set cause it never moves.

I think almost all the HDSI transducers are shielded but I don't know for sure. This set-up should work with any cable (< 1/4" dia) and transducer. I'd just be cautious of interference without the shield. But if you run your cable down the shaft of other troll motors, it should be OK here.

Both cables are FTPs. I don't understand why MK is using FTPs because they sure are not using differential mode signaling??? I am out of the guru group now. I can't get answers. Closed door policy. My o my.

I don't know? That cable I used was about .210". It looked like I had about .270" clearance to work with. It was the HBird XDTM-HDSI-180T transducer cable. Where does the gorilla sit? Anywhere he wants to? :D

Thanks for sharing this tip ' Luvin ', I just installed my new riptide and could not figure out a good way to run the wires like I had on my old motorguide unit. After reading your post I went to Lowes and bought some glue and a few other items and in less than 2 hours it was done. Inclluding having to disconnect power from the sonar and re-soldering them back together. Everything worked great and looks awsome. I can't wait to try it out this weekend.

Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!

Glad it worked out for you. I don't know about the RipTide model but on the Terrova it's really easy to slide the motor/shaft assembly out through the drive module and do the work without having to do soldering on the sonar cable/plug. It's only one 3/16" screw holding the shaft to the head assy and unplug two wires (one red and one black) from each other. But, either way is good! And looks good!! And mine works just fine, TM and sonar both!
