I did just go into the accessory menu of my helix and set the ipilot pre-arrival alarm to off as well as the ipilot off course alarm. Maybe by doing this with the ethernet cable connected will change trolling motor. As I stated earlier I disconnected the ethernet cable and the problem was still there so just wonder if there's a possibility that the settings remained even when the unit was disconnected.

What did Minn Kota tell you to do, take it to a service center?

I think where I was at was the issue honestly. Talk to minn kota yesterday and they are sending me a brand new control head because they said mine could be faulty do to it not locking on GPS. I was on Fort Rucker when I was testing it out and I believe that it was blocking the GPS signal because of the no drone zone. I decided the heck with it and came to Lake Eufaula this morning and everything worked like it supposed to so now I will be getting a control head and that I don't really need. I just don't really understand because my hummingbird plus waypoints just fine on that body of water and the GPS navigation works on my phone. It could just be the type of GPS that Minn Kota uses could be the issue I just have no idea all I know is that it did not work there but it does on Lake Eufaula

I'd really like to know if they blocked GPS on a military installation due to geo fencing for drones and things like that. It's just a lot easier for me driving to the lake on post because it's like 15 minutes versus an hour and a half to Lake Eufaula. At least now I do know that the trolling motor works as it should, I just need to take an afternoon trip one evening and see if the problem I was having is duplicated.

If your waypoints are showing then your GPS on your unit is operating. I've used a handheld Garmin on base before to lay out a compass course and routes but it's been a few years ago. You can look at your status on your sonar and if the gps status is good your trolling motor gps should be able to receive also.

It's just weird how it works on Lake Eufaula but did not work the day before. The only other possibility that I can think of is that I updated the remote and motor as soon as I got it because connecting to my phone said that there was updates available. I did not cycle power after the update. But once I left the lake not knowing how long it was going to be before I was able to go again I turned the remote off. I just can't remember if I killed power to the trolling motor or not as far as actually cutting power and not just the off button. I will go back out to the base again and if the problem happens again then I will know it has something to do with the base. It's just a weird thing that happened and probably will not ever happen again.

I went back to the lake on post today for a confirmation that I had found out the problem that I was having. Turns out that it was as simple as doing a power cycle on the trolling motor in the handheld remote. One thing to note however, looking on the GPS signal, I was connected to more satellites on Lake Eufaula then I was on post. With that being said when I was on Lake Eufaula the trolling motor was almost constantly making minor Corrections all the time and was always within one foot of the selected Target. But on post I noticed that the trolling motor would drift before coming back on target and sometimes would overshoot. Over all the unit works as intended, just not that accurate on post

As for deploying i-pilot and recording. I start recording with the motor stored before I reach my start destination. I keep my motoring speed slow while watching my GPS chart I will weave, and follow across counture depth changes and previously marked catch locations. When I reach my desired location to start fishing I just deploy, push start, and start putting out my set up. Works great.
