Something ain't right. I have run 2 of the new ones and they were flawless. Head and shoulders above my old one.

That is what I think also. I followed every direction of the Minn Kota tech. Replacing the control head is not difficult. No metal in proximity. Trolling motor was professionally installed by a reputable dealer. New batteries, bank charger, insulated wires, etc. GPS puck is fine and blue toothed to control head as the spot job works impeccably. Remote works great, software current, middle of the lake, easy access to satellites. Not sure what else?

What exactly are the symptoms you are having .... Not working good is not specific enough for us to tell what is going on ....have you tried to adjust the boat scale setting?
Oh thank you, thank you, thank you! Could not reconcile slowing down the trolling motor during spot lock until your post. Then, after searching for boat scale and understanding it is the relationship between the boat weight and the power of the trolling motor it all came together. Just got back from fishing and moved the boat scale from default (zero, which is probably rocket by default) I merely moved it to one. There are some minus settings if this did not work but it started to work flawlessly. It still is not within the advertised range but what a huge difference in the lessening of the abrupt move back to spot then not overshooting and racing back. I know there are lots of info in the manual but knowing what to look for is sometimes difficult. I will tap dance at your next wedding.

And to be more specific on your question--it does not hold spot lock within ten feet much less the advertised 3-5 feet. I move it very slowly into the wind or current, get to my brushpile, the ease it into spot lock. From that point once it settles down it still may move 5-10 feet from that position. Thanks for asking and if you have any insight I would appreciate it. The boat scale issue was fantastic and thanks again.

Glad you got it to improve....kinda weird the rep didn't ask about boat scale....I would continue to try the various settings with boat scale.
I don't think the Bluetooth sensor affects the spot lock....but I would try moving it around to make sure.

No, they assured me the GPS puck connected via Bluetooth to the trolling motor is only for the the spot JOG function once calibrated. And it works perfectly. The techs are great and want to help. Not sure why the boat scale did not come up when I described the racing overshoot and racing back issue. Your post has made it bearable and I will continue to try to trouble shoot why spot lock won't function as advertised. Thanks again.

Have not moved the boat scale from #1 yet. What a difference! I cannot tell you thanks enough. Spot lock still wanders but palatable now that it is not roaring from one point to another then overshooting and roaring back. Some day I will figure out why spot lock is not holding per claims. Right now I am just focused on catching crappie (smile). Thanks again BobB.

Went to -1 and it is smoother yet. Still wanders in 10+ foot radius but does it smoothly (smile).

Oh boy. Boat scale is most deff needed. I was trying my new ulterra 80lb out last night and it was over correcting so bad it was almost throwing me off balance. After reading the scale of power needed per weight of boat I understand why now. Being I'm running a shallow draft river boat. I will use the minimum setting to start with.
