I have some new test data for Track Record and Cruise Control, taken from the main channel of the Mississippi River, available on my website:

    I think I understand your question....I think.

Once you reach the end of the recorded track (either the start or the finish, depending on the direction that headed), i-Pilot powers down the motor. So, unless you re-engage the track record feature, by pressing Track to Start or Track to End, you will not keep moving in the original direction.

Ok, so lets say I am travelling back to the start of my track and when I get there the trolling motor powers down. What will it do if I hit the "track back to end" button?? The reason I'm asking is because when we are long lining for crappie we have all our lines out and need to stay at that constant speed so that our lines do not go to the bottom(bad news)...When I turn around I usually just make a big turn to keep the lines up and then get right back in the track again.

Under those circumstances, if your recorded track is a line (rather than a circle, as described above), the i-Pilot will get you back to the original track and then follow it to its end. In my experience, that can be a pretty sharp turn-around to get you back to the track....potentially being an issue when long-line trolling. Keep in mind that when the motor powers down, track record will not automatically start the motor when you press track to start. Pressing track to start will set the direction of the motor (it will determine the shortest path to the nearest point on the recorded track), but you'll need to set the speed independently, either by manually dialing in the speed or activating cruise control.

Ok, I forgot to mention starting the motor up and also that this was pretty much a straight line--but basically we will need to take over just when the motor stops-- with a big loop in order to keep our lines off the bottom and then when we get back straight we can engage "start to end" and also whatever speed we were running on right??

That's right...you'll need to take over when the motor stops and start your big gentle turn. Once you're heading in the right general direction, engage track to end and i-Pilot will bring you back to the recorded track and keep you on it until the last recorded point. Then, the motor will stop again, and you'll repeat the process, concluding with track to start.

I guess I can live with that little bit of driving to get the boat turned around...LOL

i believe i see a way to make it work for at least 2 miles if there is a place that you fish a lot all you do is start recording at the beginning of the day and stop it when you finish fishing that day or 2 miles which ever comes first and save it and all you would have to do is start it the next day and bingo all you have to do set there and fish it would make the turns for you would this work or not alos what if you manually have to change course say another boats or or something is in your path will it stop the tracking program or will it automatically continue on path
