I've heard a lot of stories over the years about pro fishermen doing different things to catch big crappie. What's the most unconventional technique or combination of techniques you've used.

And secondly, do you have different answers for when pre-fishing or fishing a tournament?

Trolling a jig and a crank combo may seem weird to some - but there are a lot of anglers that have been doing that for years and keeping it quiet.
Trolling jigs, flies, crankbaits or stick baits with Off Shore Taddlepoles (diving weight apparatus) gets some peoples attention. We've caught crappie as deep as 60 feet down with Tadpoles
Slab - please rephrase that second question?

Do you fish much differently when prefishing, vs tournament fishing?

and yes, that's weird, might have to try cranks and jigs. The crankbait prolly gives the jig some good action. Assuming you're pulling them "double rig style"?

Slab - I should have made you start a second thread? LOL In prefishing we are trying to find fish and figure out the pattern - then we leave them alone and wait to work them over on tournament day!
