Power Poles with Drift paddles is a must - we are still learning how to adjust the drift paddles to keep the boat going straight - every situation seems to be different! Also - fishing with stiffer poles that don't flop around in the wind helped.

I know your brand but what model of the Off Shore planer boards would you suggest for some one just getting in pulling cranks/jigs with boards?

For just getting started - the new OR-38 Awesome Crappie Planer Board from Off Shore in a great board to start with. Economical, it floats and is easily converted from port to starboard applications by changing the arm from one side to the other. I feel every boat should have at least 4 planer boards. The OR-12 with the tattle flag is what I use the most.
