    I got this response today.

    Dear Mr. Parker:

Thanks very much for getting in touch with me and letting me know what's on your mind regarding efforts to ban lead in fishing tackle.

I grew up hiking, hunting, and fishing in the Great Smoky Mountains, and I know how important these activities are to the people of Tennessee and our way of life.

In August 2010, a coalition of environmental groups petitioned the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ban all lead in fishing tackle and hunting ammunition under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). That same month, the EPA denied the proposed lead hunting ammunition ban because the agency does not have the legal authority to regulate ammunition under TSCA. However, the EPA is still considering the petition to ban lead in fishing tackle.

The EPA's evaluation of this petition should be made on the basis of sound science, taking into account both the economic and recreational impact of a ban. I look forward to carefully reviewing EPA's decision in this matter.

I'm grateful you took the time to let me know where you stand. As a member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, I'll be sure to keep your comments in mind as this issue is discussed and debated in Washington and in Tennessee.

    Sincerely,

    Lamar

You notice none of the Elected Toady's ever cite any logical reason for the suggested ban?

If there was a good reason, we'd know about it by now.
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D

The EPA is not bad it just needs to be controlled. They banned DDT which came close to killing the B Eagles but now that is why New York is eat up with Bed Bugs. DDT didn't need to be banned just controlled better.

I don't care which group of fed agencys it is doing what. The one thing that I think that needs to be done to control all of them is this: "No agency is are will be allowed to make up their on rules as they go along. Any and all rule changes may only be allowed to become rules or be enforced until after they have been voted on by the Senate and the Congress, then placed on the ballot in every state." These agencies make up their on rules to suit themselves regarless of who it effects. What are these idiots go to do if they pass such stupidty and no one bought fishing or hunting license,Trailer tags, or gear for one yr. Is this when they have and O.S. what have we done moment. Because we know a lot of the gov employees that depend on these fees will no longer have a job.
