We were fortunate enough to finish second. We caught about 16-17 keepers and 4 or 5 shorts throughout the day. Our fish were very scattered in about 18-20' of water on the side of a roadbed in about a 300 yard stretch. Only caught one fish on the road bed itself, the others were staging off to the side of it. Water temp was 46-47. We used planer boards and let out 25' of line behind them trolling .7 or .8 mph. I think the boards helped since the fish were widely scattered it allowed us to cover more water. Pulled two jigs behind each board. A 3/32 followed by a 1/16. All fish caught on black/blue/chartruse hot grub or a bobby garland swim R eclipse (black and blue). We lost two fish in the last 10 minutes of fishing. Both felt like good ones. I think we were rushing trying to get them in. Cherokee has produced the highest winning weights for our club at almost 10lbs each time we fished it. There's no doubt it has good quality fish in it if you can find them. I am anxious to see what weights the chick produces next month in comparison. Did I mention it rained?
