    Default Amazing

It is amazing what filled in eyeballs and flying wings will do to the Bobby Garland Crappie Shooter. All it needed was rubber material threaded through a needle eye and then threaded through the lure body, and black worm dye on the tip of a drill bit.

Those are Bobby Garland Crappie Shooters. I won them in a C.Com contest on redneck ingenuity. This is that link https://www.crappie.com/crappie/main...ideas-contest/

    This is the Crappie Shooter

I just decided to enhance them a little by using worm -n- chunk paint and rubber tail material from making tube jigs as fins.

Thank you DockShootinJack and Grainraiser for the name "Flying Minnows." This is the You Tube Video with that name on the original Flying Minnow. This is a two inch version. You can make any soft plastic look like this by adding the rubber skirt material to it as fins. Take one rubber thread, center it on the darning needle and pull it through the body. Take scissors and cut the loop formed. Put one tiny drop of Loctite on one side of the lure to hold the fin in position against any tugs on it.

One of my friends named John wanted me to post a still photo that shows how much hook area is still there after putting the piece of pool noodle on. As the photo shows there is plenty of hook for fish to bite in. This is a #4 long shank hook. The noodle is threaded with a #6 line with a needle and back through then run the line through the hook eye and knot it twice. This stops it from sliding up to the hook bend.

Tie the setup with the main line from the reel through the hook eye. Form a loop knot, cut the tag end off. Pinch on your sinkers to fish it tightline.

I took this photo through large glass beer mug so you can see how much hook there is for the fish to bite into.
