    Default Would woulda thought? !

The French Fry stick has been around a while:

I never use soft stick much but figured - why not use a section of one for the body and attach various tails?
I don't know why they catch fish, but they do!
Here a Joker Tail was added to one:

Took a claw from a craw worm lure and attached it:

Added this thin flat tail to one:

    Fr. Fry-with-curl tail attached/ photos:

Note: spinners like the above have done very well this year.

Every time I've used these lures, I've caught fish on them and on the same day. I have no idea why the flat body works better than round grub bodies, but they seem to.

A baits only job is to trigger a fish to bite the hook. It can be from the need to eat, the need to defend itself, a territorial response. A house will kill for sport. A fish may strike for the same reason. It is an animal, animals rarely let an easy meal go.
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along

There's no difference - not that it make a difference - the key being "A bait's only job is to trigger a fish to bite". Lure shape, action and speed in combination is everything; the rest just labeling why fish strike or struck. Combination choices are limitless as I found over many year of making, modifying and testing combinations in the many waters in different states I've lived and fished. That's just me....

Here just a few combinations when rigged on a light ball head jig catch fish:

Each fall into a design category. For example, #2 are Claws which differ in action from #6 double curl tails. #2 are Joker tails attached to different grub bodies. #8 is a Club Tail which differs in action from any of those shown. #3 work well under floats which is far more likely than the other designs. #4 has an action that works especially well near cover because of its size and whip-action tail.

    All incite-the-strike.

It is always a lot of fun to experiment with different designs you never know with the fish may like.

    Thanks Snake and Bob!
About color - all in my mind what enhances a lure's appearance to a fish. On the one hand I'm thinking contrast to a background (i.e.sideways or the bottom) and available light). The less clear the water/ the more contrast? Maybe certain colors / color brightness add to a lure's action (ie. a bright chartreuse tail wiggling like crazy). But I really do like laminate soft plastics like this one!:

..and once I find a color that catches fish - THAT'S IT!
Of course there are colors I'm superstitious about that I don't feel work as well as the ones shown. Sure, black works for most anglers but confidence is lacking for using it for many lure designs (i.e. crankbaits). I suppose the more I use a color I don't prefer, the greater the chances of catching fish with it, but (mis)believing I was right about a color that caught a bunch of fish is just more fun (regardless the reality of color).

Some more that got hit by crappie, perch, sunfish and bass:
cut a curl tail of a grub and attached the curve to a French Fry stick segment:

The body got beat up after 6 fish and shortened it:

This old jig trailer (unmodified) did well - really well! :

Used the larger size and caught a few bass:

A Joker tail added to a French Fry segment still caught fish:

added a double curl tail to Fr Fry seg.
