Thread: How close is this to a minnow color?

IMO, it depends on which minnow you're trying to mimic...

It's close enough to some, but nowhere near the color of a threadfin shad.

I'd say it's real close to a "toughie" / fat head minnow.

I like them, very close to minnows around here.

They look good to me Mike but like Fur said depends on what your comparing to.

Brother do I understand the frustrations trying to duplicate the right colors when I'm doing drawings and paintings. IMO: I love the color, translucence and the sparkle that gives your prototype a good 3D profile and presence. Actually, it really ought to be a question of how the bait looks under water and not how it looks to us out of water and in artificial light... because surely water and filtered natural sunlight (at depths) will surely change the way this bait looks color-wise. That being said: I believe your current color choice will (in fact) be more minnow-like "color-wise" at depth when exposed to filtered light. Good job ship!!!

I not sure that I am a very good judge of perfection, but that color looks like it is a real good representation of many minnows and fry. That color and that stinger should be able to feed you and your neighbors without much to do.

i hate to break the news to you, but those will not catch fish, you need to get rid of them as soon as possible. I have made a New Year's resolution to help people so what you need to do is bag them up and send them to me and I will take of it for you!! ;>)

Actually, they look dang good to me. You should do well with those plastics. I, for one, enjoy seeing photos of the DIY lures, etc. that people make. Keep up the good work.

Its very close mike and like others have said....it should look even more so in slightly stained water at depth. My experiance tells me to use baits that look natural in clear lakes and in my home waters where the water is not clear at all....they seem to like unnatural looking colors better and that might be due to visibility dunno, but they sure like Orange, green chartreuse, yellow chartreuse, and pink, and purple, and black. But yeh thats very close to a natural minnow.
