Great job customizing them.Nice catches.I would have not known they were pieced together if you had not said so.

    1. Get some of your soft plastic lures out of storage whether plastic worms, grubs, creature lures etc. and decide body and tail parts to fuse together. Sometimes lures need shortening and as in the case of the Slider Worm, I cut out a section and fused the parts together.

    2. Some use a special glue (I have), but it doesn't always work as well as a candle flame
    3. cut the parts to be joined as perpendicular as possible so the completed lure is straight.
    4. hold each part over the flame just enough so the melting begins but not too long.
    5. hold together for 5-6 seconds and put aside to cool completely
    6. I have a battery powered soldering gun that I use for the outer seam to smooth the plastic all around the seam.

The new lure is as as one.

    7. catch bunches of fish with it on light jigs to begin.

I keep the lures less than 2 3/4" to allow them to catch any species of fish no matter the size. Here's a small bass that was super aggressive:

The lures above caught 55 fish two days ago, including a 3 lb bass; other mods caught 77 fish two days before that.
The simple fact is that many lures can be improved upon with a different tail or a better body that holds a jig better. Incredible are the numbers of lures designs modified by you that catch numbers of fish in different sizes. I tried a few new ones in my pond yesterday and fish jumped all over them! Good thing I cut the point off.

Here's one made from the bodies of two grubs:

I rig it as pictured or wacky rig it with the same light jig:

The beauty of soft plastic lure modification is finding all the lure shapes and actions fish bite, not having to depend on another's imagination. Who would have thought the grub mod above with it's unusual thick tail would catch fish? Sure it's clunky looking, but it has proven to work in any water I've fished it.

    Good luck.
