Default Thinking about buying a injection machine

Anyone have the Ultra Molds injection machine? Is it worth buying one? Any videos on you using it? I was wondering if you have to clean the injector after every pour? Thanks

Hi Gonzz I have the Mini Shooting Star it is a very good machine very well built and i think it is worth the money, it will shoot as small amount as 1 pint per pot. I usely shoot 2 pints one in each pot for two color baits. It holds a lot more but that is the small amount it works well with. It is best to clean the injector after each batch not each shot. It's not hard to do. I went and bought another injector so if i have a problem during a batch i can switch injectors. So far that has not happen ! I also bought the injector heater, that is a good buy also, it heats the injector more than between the pots which is good but u will have to wear oven mitts to hold it. One thing i think would be a improvement if they would have one tube of the injector colored so when u are shooting two color it would be easy to keep up with your top color i paint mine but it wears off. I heat my plastic in the microwave it is just quicker. Then i set my temp on 295 F to shoot at, the baits work good at that temp. I have 5 crappie bait molds and i can shoot all 5 without reloading. It is easy to clean the pots and ports. The ports, i turn on let it heat it a little then open the valves and blow the ports out with air, they clean out good then wipe the pots out. If u want any more info feel free to just ask. Cub48

Cub 48 is 'right on'. I heat the equipment after cleaning out the pots then 'suck out the lines'.
Works for me as everything I make is for me or friends.
Remember the temperature gauge is in the aluminum bar, not the plastic, so verify with a thermometer in the plastic.

Do you mix the plastic and add colorants. In a pyrex before you pour it into the machine or can u mix it in the machine

Either would work a lot easier in the pyrex where you can see top to bottom and adjust accordingly particularly when using glitter.

I’d personally just buy more molds and use a microwave. Throw a degas chamber in to boot too.
